A Coke Float is a drink that takes me right back to my youth, the sort of treat that ran alongside such British beachside brilliance as the Knickerbocker Glory or a Banana Split... If you upgrade the simple pleasures of youth with the "adults only" twist of alcohol, more specifically: rum and you really can bring a smile to the face of even the most straight laced of people.

 

 

Foodies Festival introduced us to a few new products and one of the nicest ones was the Rum Cask finish beer produced by Eden Brewery in St. Andrews (Scotland). 

 

With Father’s Day fast approaching (16th of June) why not get your old man something he can really enjoy and something that you can share together – only one thing for it… Rum! We’ve been itching to share some details we’d got wind of a few weeks back, but sworn to secrecy as the full press release promised to reveal so much more!  Well – “they” were right – it’s all pretty cool and we can’t help but notice that the main emphasis of the show has been restated within the Etiquette Guidelines and we personally hope that this will swing the bias from those aiming to get drunk on the cheap, to those genuinely looking for some rum-educational fun.

 

I know we are not the first to run with a Spiced Rum Piña Colada – it was just the other week we were drinking them in Hawksmoor Air St.  But we do think it adds a nice, complimentary twist to a firm favourite of ours and so when we were contacted by our friends at Emporia Brands with a recipe that featured their very own Chairman’s Reserve Spiced rum, we felt we just had to share.
