We’ve had more than a few fab nights at Wax Jambu. Only geographical displacement kept us apart as much as it has… or did… The opportunity to enjoy an amazing cocktail or two in the company of seriously creative bartenders (and dedicated rummies) seemingly passed us by when a few weeks ago (February 3rd to be exact), Wax Jambu shut for the last time. Sad news perhaps, but the news that kept the tears away was that this was just the end of one chapter and with the turn of a page a whole new adventure awaits.
TheFloatingRumShack.com might be a little bit more than a bit ‘one eyed’ when it comes to the team at Wax Jambu. Jimi Pearce has been a great friend to us over the last few years. A big rum and spirits fan and a creative genius to boot! Creator of TheFloatingRumShack.com’s fantastic logo – the unveiling of which took us to a whole new level of popularity with the rum loving masses. That said, we are genuinely excited about the next chapter: Wax's Hogo Shake Up as things are getting a little more personal:
"After more than four solid years of tailored service, epic parties and delicious libations; Wax Jambu is evolving. From Friday 1st March until 1st May, the first steps in the Wax Jambu rebirth will take place. We're planning some exciting developments over the next six months and, as we leave one venue and take the first step on the road to rebirth, we will become Wax's Hogo Shake-Up; an exciting new pop-up bar. We'll be operating from a new location between Old Street and Angel in a more focused and intimate setting as well as translating our service style a little to make some extra time, just so we can chat and regale you with everything from pirate stories to traditional bar banter.
Wax's Hogo Shake-Up will run for just over 8 weeks at a secret and beautiful level above renowned pub The William IV, we will be serving a host of contemporary, scrumptious drinks to continue wetting your whistles. Drinks will be lovingly prepared just as they always have been by the team, while taking on a more whisky and bourbon influence than before. But, don’t worry we’ll still be serving plenty of rum!
Wax Jambu owner Jimi Pearce commented: "it’s time for a fresh challenge, and the Hogo Shake Up is just the first unique stepping stone of experiences for all to enjoy en route to our new venue. Make sure you stop by to this first instalment to enjoy a contemporary, premium drinking experience with all the Wax Jambu ethos you enjoyed in the beginning"
Furthermore, we will be hosting a series of fantastic events, one every week in fact. These will range from cocktail competitions to tastings and samplings based on everything from exquisitely premium whisky, every kind of rum available on the market (really, every kind) and of course, sausages with a splash of vermouth. Come down and join us from March first and check out the tumblr page for photos and news until then"
