Plantation Rum Single Cask Vintage

Double The Fun!

To celebrate the special RumFest month of October, our friends at Bibendum Spirits have excelled themselves by offering a very special prize to October’s winner: a bottle each of the brand new Single Cask Plantation rums.  The latest arrivals are the rather amazing Guadeloupe 1998 Sauternes Cask Finish and a lovely Trinidad Multi Millesimes - which for those who can’t read French means multi Vintage…  In this case a blend of 1999, 2001 and 2003 Vintages.

The Floating Rum Shack Part 2

TheFloatingRumShack.com

TheFloatingRumShack.com Starts a Second Ageing…

When we started TheFloatingRumShack.com back in February 2009, we created a mission statement – a goal that was intended to keep us on a true path and prevent us from going off at tangents.  It was a good call and apart from the odd dalliance, we’ve stuck with our plan.  The last year though has seen us getting a level of recognition from the drinks industry we didn’t expect and so we think it’s a good time to mark our card for the future and share our personal goals.

Now the ‘old’ website is based around an installation of Joomla that’s well out of date – it’s becoming a security risk and so I need to take it offline for a bit, with the goal of updating its engine and bringing it back online a bit later on.

With the biggest Rum event on the calendar (RumFest) virtually upon us, the prospect of not having a ‘live’ site to hand would be an unforgivable missed opportunity, hence this new offering.

Combining the new site with the new mission statement, we have the makings of an exciting new beginning for us.

Takamaka Bay St André 8 Year Old Rum

Takamaka Bay

Rhum des Seychelles

Rum from the Indian Ocean isn’t new – we’ve tried a few, but I’m pretty sure that Takamaka Bay is the first rhum we’ve tried from the Seychelles and to be absolutely honest – had we not been fortuitously introduced to David Owens (a very nice chap who is working with the Trois Frères Distillery) then we may have never got around to trying it.  Well not until next month at RumFest – but more of that later.

Plantation Rum Guatemala Pineau Cask Finish

Bottled Exclusively for Gerry’s London Old 74…

It’s the little quirks of fate I love so much; A chance conversation on the phone with Allen at Gerry’s Wines and Spirits last April or May primed me with the knowledge that they were commissioning a single cask bottling of rum.  It was planned to be available in their fine establishment sometime in September.
