Discover The Taste Of Black Gold
It's a claim made by one of Jamaica's newest contenders in the rum world. Blackwell rum is the realisation of the creative genius of Chris Blackwell, the very same man who founded Island Records in 1959 and brought Bob Marley and reggae to the attention of the world. 40 years later, there is so much more to the man and his personal empire, but the focus of this article is to bring to the attention of the gentle reader, the rum that shares his name. In the video I'll be directing you to later on, you can hear the relaxed tones of Chris Blackwell calmly tell us that he's "Not a big follower particularly, but if it's something (he's) discovered or found and that really turns (him) on, then that's how (he) judge's quality. First it was Reggae. Now it's Rum"

And The Winner Is...
Congratulations to Sarah Wright on winning the title of Miss Bundy UK. A combination of wit, charm and beauty won the judges over - beating the other 15 competitors and stealing the show. Sarah had only been in the UK for a month having flown in from New South Wales.

TheFloatingRumShack.com Turns One Year Old!
The first day of February 2010 means that TheFloatingRumShack.com has been running for a year. Party hats might not necessarily be on and there's certainly no jelly and ice cream, but we think that we are going to celebrate anyway - a glass of rum might feature - you just never know!

Wax's Rum Cove
TheFloatingRumShack.com loves to write up (and big up!) any bars that look to specialise in rum! A cool place to head out to enjoy a tipple is Wax Jambu, situated in Islington (London). Just recently they have opened up the Rum Cove, supported by WIRSPA to give the discerning drinker the full Authentic Caribbean Rum experience.
The Cove is on the second floor of the premises and because of the WIRSPA link up, stocks a small selection of rums (I'm sure these are the rums that currently fall under the WIRSPA umbrella). A rum cocktail list exists, but I'll let Jimi Pearce (proprietor of Wax Jambu) tell you about them and the future in his own words:

The Future Of Lamb's Is Not Entirely In The Dark
We recently discovered that Lamb's had moved beyond producing only the (dark) Navy rum that's so widely known. Lamb's Spiced was for us a fantastic experience and during the article, we alluded to the new white rum that was just being released to market. RumFest 2009 was the staging ground for the UK preview of Lamb's White Rum and we had the opportunity to try a little. Well, it's taken a little while for me to 'extract a digit' as it were, but I'm pleased to get the opportunity to tell you a little more.
