Spiced Cuba Libre
It's hardly going to set the cocktail world alight, but we just had to share what we spotted in our local Sainsbury's supermarket.

The Ultimate Challenge?
It might be a little late in arriving, but we've just received a press release confirming something that we announced some while ago here on TheFloatingRumShack.com, namely that the UK Appleton Estate Bartenders Challenge winner: Joshua Ivanovic (click here to read our write up of the event) will be heading off to Jamaica to take part in an International event that will pit Josh against his peers in the ultimate bartending event.

The Biggest Test
It’s Monday – these day’s that seems to mean that the 30 mile dash from High Wycombe to London is on the cards. In this case the destination is Floridita and added into the normal mix of mayhem and general chaos, is that on this particular evening there is an international football match at Wembley (England vs. Mexico) and a broken down lorry to contend with. There was a moment when I thought we would never arrive!

A Cane Spirits Festival...
TheFloatingRumShack.com would share the news about a great event coming up in Philadelphia (that's in the US for all our non-geographically minded UK readers). It's the brainchild of Adam Kanter, both good friend to TFRS and owner of The Rum Bar in Philly. To find out a little more, visit the website: www.rumontheriver.com or check out the event details if you're on Facebook.

It's Good For The Wood (Apparently)
TheFloatingRumShack.com really enjoyed a few days hanging out with their friends at RumConnection.com HQ in Key West a few weeks ago. It was a whole lot of fun and apart from happy memories; Pauline and I took something else away with us that we weren’t really expecting at all...

A True Taste Of History...
Take a moment to enjoy the sight of the fine looking bottle, presented in its lovely wooden case. The ½ Gill measure is fashioned from copper and peeking carefully, you’ll see a book tucked into the bottom of the box, which contains a history of Naval rum.
The certificate on the inside of the lid tells you the story of Black Tot day and confirms that the contents of the bottle, marks the owner as being a rather lucky person... They truly have a piece of real rum history contained therein.
Tell me honestly - wouldn't you love to have a bottle for yourself?
