The Appleton Estate Bartender’s Challenge is an event that is now in its third year and is becoming an important competition in the UK drinks industry – this year the winner will take away a unique, limited edition rum from the Appleton Estate and rather excitingly, they will get the opportunity to represent the UK in Jamaica during next October’s Global Appleton Estate Bartenders Challenge.

The Miami Rum Renaissance Festival has just played host to the first ever international Tiki Face-Off (*). A handpicked ‘dream team’ of UK bartenders got themselves together and threw down the challenge. The venue was Miami where the sun is hot and the rum flows freely (at least during Rum Renaissance). The UK had choreographed their routine and meticulously planned the details... How would the Americans react? Could they pull off the home soil result that everyone expected or would the Brits steal their thunder?
A rumour first heard in Miami has proved to be true when Ints Haquani and Paul Pavli of Boutique Brands confirmed to TheFloatingRumShack.com that Atlantico is set to be launched in the UK this summer (2010)!
