The fleeting glimpses of blue sky here at TheFloatingRumShack.com HQ makes me realise that it’s still technically Summer even though the rain over the last few weeks makes me think that Autumn is in full swing. Rain or shine, we can still talk cocktails and I thought I’d share three recipes supplied to us by Havana Club!
TheFloatingRumShack.com was first introduced to Pampero Especial quite a while back, but for some reason I’ve found it very difficult to find a contact at Diageo to speak to. Fortunately this all changed at the recent Pampero Blanco launch. I’ve now been given some great information about the range and I’d love to share it with you if you have a moment.
Next weekend is Notting Hill Carnival (as if you didn’t know) – it’s going to be one hell of a party and because it’s all about the Caribbean, you can be sure that rum features prominently. TheFloatingRumShack.com has said from day one that cachaça is a welcome companion to rum on our journey to cane spirit nirvana. It’s a spirit that passionately claims not to be a rum due to the variation in production methods and (of course) those people that are passionate about it. But it could be said to be similar and of course as rum is a sugar cane spirit, so is cachaça – so they are at least siblings!
In what had to be the biggest tease of the summer season so far, Pauline and I were invited down to Mahiki to celebrate the birthday of the Piña Colada!
Rum is something that is rarely advertised in the UK mainstream media and whilst to the purist, Morgan’s Spiced is not technically a bottle of rum due to it being just below the minimum level of 37.5%ABV (Morgan’s Spiced is 35%ABV) – but the fact that it’s so close means that I’m happy to share the latest news!
It's not often that I feel the need to publish news feed stories, but the size of Diageo's investment is rather amazing...
