Wax's Rum Cove

TheFloatingRumShack.com loves to write up (and big up!) any bars that look to specialise in rum!  A cool place to head out to enjoy a tipple is Wax Jambu, situated in Islington (London).  Just recently they have opened up the Rum Cove, supported by WIRSPA to give the discerning drinker the full Authentic Caribbean Rum experience.

The Cove is on the second floor of the premises and because of the WIRSPA link up, stocks a small selection of rums (I'm sure these are the rums that currently fall under the WIRSPA umbrella).  A rum cocktail list exists, but I'll let Jimi Pearce (proprietor of Wax Jambu) tell you about them and the future in his own words:

"We have a range of 19 authentic Caribbean rums that we are slowly expanding, with a cocktail list to suit including drinks such as 'Wax's Hidden Treasure' with yellow bell pepper, falernum, pineapple and the rum of your choice.

We also offer sharing bowls for groups of up to 10 with drinks such as 'Skeletor's Fix' serving 5 people in a huge ceramic skull! Ingredients include wild nettle cordial, earl grey tea and cream.

In the future we are planning rum tastings and cocktail classes for our customers that we get to treat through our Wax Jambu membership scheme.  These will be held in Wax's Rum Cove with guest industry speakers and brand ambassadors."

So the current situation sounds great and the future, more so!  19 rums is not a lot, (when compared to Cotton's and Trailer Happiness), but a great start, especially as the WIRSPA family contains some fabulous rum!  It's also an magnitude of order better than the rubbish selection we are offered out here in High Wycombe...

TheFloatingRumShack.com has not yet been there - but a visit can't be far off and expectation is high!  We will let you know how it goes.
