Want To Impress?
Of course you do!
I've spoken recently about the Newcastle Rum club [click here to be reminded] and a masterclass that will see Rum Ambassador wax lyrical [click here to be reminded], but I've missed the opportunity to say a few words about John Collingwood, who is the fella behind these events.
I don't need to say much - if you check out his website http://www.wanttoimpress.com/ you'll see that there is a variety of things this man is involved with - busy is the word that I'd most associate him with. He's a Facebook friend, so I get to be nosy on his 'info'. Working for over 6 years at Bacardi as 'Product Training & Mixology Manager' must have been fun as well as a great way of paying the bills! All that wealth of experience is now brought to bear on teaching everyday people how to make fantastic cocktails. If you're in the North of England, then you really have no excuse - you just have to get involved - but for the people further away - then no worries - the experience can come to you!
The website is just packed full of all sorts of things and you really need to visit regularly to keep up. I'm really hoping John will keep me updated with happenings, so that between us we can continue to spread the good word - rum! - John is a mixologist and so is 'into' booze in all it's amazing forms, but I know he has a special place in his heart for rum. He recently told me this about the noble spirit:
"The thing I love about Rum, is that I think that there is no other spirit in the world, that can only do one thing... put a smile on your face. No matter what your mood, location or company, Rum will always be a welcome friend. There is nothing better than being able to raise a glass and say cheers.
One thing for sure, it will never question you or disagree with you, it will simply smile and say one more sip, you know you want to!"
I agree entirely - I think it's almost impossible to say rum without a smile coming to your face and those who have had a glass of the good stuff will know just what I'm saying.

So keep and eye on John's blog http://www.wanttoimpress.com/blog.html
Just as importantly - keep an eye on the events http://www.wanttoimpress.com/events.html
And if you're thinking of a theme for a party, then you could do no better than consider 'Want to impress' as a sure fire winner.
