Mount Gay Sails Into Cowes Week
TheFloatingRumShack.com has heard that Mount Gay Rum will be an official sponsor of Cowes Week 2010. The event, which runs from 31st July – 7th August, is the pinnacle of the UK sailing calendar.
As part of its sponsorship, Mount Gay Rum will host the renowned Red Cap Party and carry out sampling activity in addition to supporting key on-trade outlets with point of sale and promotional materials to drive awareness and visibility.
Mount Gay Rum will be highly visible throughout Cowes Week with the brand’s new Rum Booth offering consumers an immersive experience. Visitors will be able to try premium aged rums or sample one of a selection of summer cocktails. The Mount Gay Rum Booth recently debuted at London’s Taste Festival, where 14,000 consumers were sampled. The brand will also be carrying out sampling and experiential activity at Henley Royal Regatta, which takes place between 30th June – 4th July.
Kathy Roe, Senior Brand Manager for Mount Gay Rum, says: “This year will see our biggest-ever UK marketing spend on Mount Gay in the UK, which has enabled us to really increase our support of Cowes Week. Mount Gay Rum has forged a strong presence within the global sailing community over the last three centuries and Cowes Week offers us a great opportunity to build on this. Through sampling activity and events throughout the week, we’ll be able to reach many of our core target consumers and equally importantly, introduce Mount Gay Rum to new drinkers.”
Thousands of amateur sailors, alongside World Champions and Olympic medallists, take to the water during Cowes Week. The racing, together with the vibrant festival atmosphere attracts over 100,000 visitors to Cowes during the event.
